Weekend...where did you go?
Luckily for me, T O M O R R O W is my F R I D A Y!!!
Thursday morning, Justin, Jennifer (his precious cousin & one of my dearest friends), her fun husband Stephen, and myself will be setting sail to the Bahamas to celebrate our one year anniversary as a married couple!
More on that later...
This weekend was extremely low key for us here in the Lane household. Especially because I had to work this weekend.
Friday night was filled with family! We went over to Justin's aunt's house (which sits on the most beautiful piece of property in Beaufort overlooking the river) for dinner to celebrate my sweet father-in-law's birthday. Two highlights of my night:
1. Eating delicious prime rib.
2. Winning a war against Justin over our future children's names! You see, I am all about family names. I don't want a name out of a baby book. I want our children to be named after those that we love. Justin has already told me I'm not allowed to use names from Gone With The Wind.
(Come on y'all, you know if we manage to pop out redheaded girls, what better name than Scarlet?!) Justin's dad's name is Collins, which I find to be the perfect name for either a boy or a girl. Justin just thought naming a girl after his dad would be insulting. Well, Justin's mom is just dying for us to give her some grand babies and the subject was brought up...so I figured why not ask the in-laws what they thought about my name selections. Well of course, they loved them. BAM! Collins Bessenger (for a boy) or Collins Claire it is! (Bessenger is Mr. Collins' middle name as well as Justin's grandmother's maiden name) (Claire was my great grandmother's name.) It just tickled me that I finally won at something. Instant night maker. Granted, babies are
far in the future, we hope!
Another highlight of my Friday was that Southern Weddings V6 was in stores.
Now, this isn't just any Southern Weddings magazine... This one is extremely special.
I have been working with wedding photographer, extraordinaire Ashley Seawell. She has taught me more and challenged me more behind a camera that I have been since I've been photographing "professionally" for the past 5 years.
Ashley Seawell Photography has an amazing spread in this magazine and I had the pleasure of photographing this wedding with her! Please make sure to check it out. I am so blessed to have been given this opportunity to work with such talented people.
Saturday consisted of a busy day at work which consisted of daunting photos from the husband on the boat. Jealous doesn't even begin to explain my feelings towards all that. I came home to quickly get ready to celebrate my friend Carly's birthday. We headed to my small hometown of Ridgeland where we got to see a lot of my favorite old friends. Nothing makes me happier than visiting home. Justin didn't feel too great so we didn't get to stay long but we enjoyed it, nonetheless.
Sunday was another lovely day at work. Yes, it was work, but I still celebrated the lovely birthday of Lilly Pulitzer!
My husband had to work shift at the fire department so I enjoyed a lazy evening with my babies.
And that was it!
I do want to share a little tid-bit from today:
I received a VERY alarming phone call at work today. I'm usually a very private person when it comes to financial things but this phone call just shook me up so much that I need to share it.
While at work today, our office phone rang. I answered it and it was someone asking for me. The man on the phone told me that he was calling from a lawyer's office and action was being taken against me for not paying a debt. I'm usually pretty on track with my bills and what needs to be paid. I communicate with whoever I need to if I'm running late and get it taken care of. This phone call just didn't seem right. The man told me that if I could not pay the full amount of $980
today then there was going to be a warrant for my arrest. I asked him who the company was that I owed this money to because it didn't make a lick of sense to me. He told me he was representing US Cash Loan Services and they represent a numerous amount of loan companies. I kept asking him what company the loan was taken out with so that I could find it in my records and he told me that once I paid everything then he would be able to tell me. I also asked for a documented record stating that I owed this and he told me that he could provide this once I paid it.
None of this added up. But what was more alarming was that he had
all of my information. I asked him why on earth would I pay this, it all sounded like a scam. He kept telling me that if I wanted to go to jail for up to 30 days and pay lawyer fees and court fees then I would be much worse than paying the $980 that they were requesting. He kept asking for my account information. I told him I simply could not pay it. It was impossible. He asked what was the lowest amount I could pay. I offered to pay $50 as a payment. He literally laughed at me. He said I had to pay it within 3 hours or the paperwork was going to the courts and there would be a warrant for my arrest.
After hanging up the phone with him, my co-worker and very smart friend called back their number questioning the lawyer services they offered and their location. I google searched their location and it literally pulled up a parking lot in the middle of nowhere.
Shortly after, the phone rang again. It was the same voiced man asking me if I wanted a loan!!! I quickly replied "no" and he said "are you sure?!" and I said "yes, I'm positive" and hung up.
I am still terrified and have froze any and all credit activity for 90 days. I'm so concerned that identity theft is something that will soon be knocking at my door.
Please be aware that this can too happen to you.
On a more positive note, check out my #ManCandyMonday!

I just love a happy fisherman! JCL is holding a sheepshead we caught last week. He makes my heart so happy!
So sorry this was all so lengthy!
Have a fabulous week!
Thank the Lord that tomorrow is (my) Friday!
